Shania Twain Added to Home Street Mobile Game

Mobile gaming is a massive and increasingly growing market, with consumers spending $40.6bn in 2016 alone, a significant sum that matched global box-office takings for movies released that same year.

And game publishers have been keen to grow the market further by creating mobile app games based on famous singers such as Katy Perry, and Nicki Minaj. However results have been mixed and publisher Glu Mobile saw their games based on the likes of Britney Spears flop, and ditched plans for a Taylor Swift inspired game in favour of an an app more focused on social features.

However the music industry is still keen to break this particular market and are now exploring partnerships with mobile games that are already popular in order to create a more lucrative deal. Iron Maiden for instance put their mascot Eddie into Angry Birds Evolution last month, and Sabaton kicked off a long-term collaboration with World Of Tanks back in June.

And now it has been officially revealed that country music legend Shania Twain is getting in on the growing trend by appearing in the Home Street mobile game. Universal Music Group’s in-house partnership division has made a deal with mobile games firm Supersolid, which will see Shania’s number 1 comeback LP and first studio release in fifteen years ‘Now‘ promoted within the Home Street app game.

Home Street is basically The Sims with added decorating; a genre that is currently very popular on the app stores across the world.

Twain will be an in-game character and two new videos taken from ‘Now’ will play on a billboard within the game. Home Street players will also be able to buy a branded guitar and outfit for their characters and there will will also be an in-game Q&A with the queen of country/pop herself.
