  • She was introduced to the sport of tennis by her mother Liliana when she was 4 years old.
  • In April 2007, at the Budapest Grand Prix, she had reached the final of an event (either singles or doubles) on the WTA Tour for the first time in her career. She had become the first Romanian to reach a WTA Tour final since Ruxandra Dragomir in June 2000.
  • In October 2008, she won her first singles title on the WTA Tour at the Tashkent Open. At the end of that calendar year, she had reached a new career-high singles world ranking of 36. This had made her the number one ranked Romanian female player, at the age of just 18.
  • At the 2009 French Open, she had reached the quarter-final of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time in her career. At the tournament, she had defeated 2 players ranked in the ‘Top 10’ of the official WTA singles rankings, in successive matches – then world number 10 Caroline Wozniacki in the 3rd round and then world number 5 Jelena Janković in the 4th round.
  • In August 2013, at the Rogers Cup, she had reached a final in the singles format on the WTA Tour for the first time in nearly 5 years. There, in her match against Ann Li, she was involved in an unusual incident where she requested a code violation from the umpire for coaching. This was because she was irritated by her coaches’ repeated comments toward her.
